Take a map of Spain. Point with your finger the region of Castile and Leon, and then find the South of the province of Palencia. You will find El Cerrato, a natural district characterized by an intricate labyrinth of valleys and natural spots that welcomes you with open arms.

In the heart of that area, in the town of Baltanás, is located Finca El Cercado, a great starting point to discover the wine treasures of that viticulture land, which has already become part of the Wine Routes of Spain.

Baltanás (Palencia) is one of the essential places within the Wine Route of Arlanza, which achieved its inclusion in the Wine Routes of Spain a year ago.

#1 – Traditional Wine Cellars of El Cerrato

The underground architecture of El Cerrato related to traditional wine production is one of the undiscovered gems for visitors. The wine cellars of Baltanás and Torquemada, a few kilometers from Finca El Cercado, have recently obtained the ‘BIC’ declaration of their cultural interest. The district of wine cellars of Baltanás is the most important peripheral excavated set of Castile and Leon by its extension, conservation, age and number of wineries. At harvest time, our guests can enjoy an immersive experience in the local wine culture, knowing in person how grapes are collected and pressed and what is the flavor of the first musts.

During the rest of the year, it is always a delight to walk among the vineyards and learn about the wildlife that inhabits them.
